| Mental Healthcare Lighting |
|
Our current range of PROTECTALUX, ENDURALUX, and
THE IRIS products by nature of their robust properties are restricted for use within mental healthcare facilities designated for the criminally insane such as Ashworth Hospital, Broadmoor and Rampton. These locations are jointly funded by NHS and Ministry of Justice and call for the very highest standards of security, using the NOMS specification STD/E/SPEC/021 and STD/E/SPEC/022.
In the absence of any standards or guidelines from NHS for acute and medium secure mental healthcare lighting in hospitals, we are currently ‘peering through the keyhole’ and conducting detailed market research with a view to developing a new range of lighting specifically for these premises.
These new products will recognise the need to move away from our present institutionalised and functional look that gives priority to the level of security required for dangerous and very vulnerable people, and tends towards a more aesthetic range designed to give adequate security but with softer lines.
In the course of our market research we are inviting clinicians and estates managers to discuss any specific ideas and requirements they may have.
